Ready to Flow with Flowmation Version 2.0
23 October 2005
Silicon Systems have announced that Version 2.0 of Flowmation will be available as of 23 October 2006.
Following months of extensive development Silicon Systems are proud to announce the release of version 2.0 of Flowmation ahead of schedule. This release adds many innovative additions to an already feature rich product. Flowmation has been developed to meet the growing needs of progressive companies from across the graphics industry.
Flowmation is an IPM (Interactive Project Management) system, which combines Digital Asset Management, Remote Approval with Project Management in an innovative way, enabling unprecedented levels of professional interaction within and across organisations. Flowmation is built from the ground up to be entirely web-based to J2EE specifications, providing scalability to enterprise levels.
Neil Dobson, Managing Director of Silicon Systems revealed "This is a huge step forward for Flowmation. With this release we have introduced a large number of features which improve how users interact with Flowmation. This is an incredibly important issue for us and we have worked very closely with our development partners to get this right.
“For example, we have included a new feature called "Views"; these are collections of project information which are accessed through tabs that can be customised on a client by client basis. It's a really powerful system for publishing and sharing project information.
"Higher levels of customisation are now possible and individual sites can be created for your clients to reflect their own livery and branding. In addition, individual users can customise their own experience through a preferences page.
“The searching capabilities have now been greatly extended; all keywords are provided as links so you can quickly move from link to link and navigate in a really intuitive way. You can also allow your clients to upload assets - with all the associated keywords – straight into the DAM library. If they want to amend or change keywords they can easily do this.
“In the DAM library there is now a large rollover preview, which hovers over the thumbnail and a tree view which enables users to browse through different categories.
“The capabilities of the inbuilt workflow system have also been increased and these workflows can now be accessed right across the system.
“Finally, we have introduced an API, which means that Flowmation can now link into products such as Adobe® InDesign®, Enfocus’s Pitstop, Creo’s Prinergy and Agfa’s Apogee to name a few. This enables a huge range of features to be accessed through Flowmation allowing substantial time savings; it’s a very exciting development”.
Peter Thorne of EHS Brann, a Flowmation Development Partner, added “We are really excited about the new possibilities that this new version of Flowmation provides us with, especially Views which enables us to move our projects through from creative brief right through to the production process whilst keeping all the project information centralised and accessible”.
